Are you wondering how to get major gifts?
Major gifts are the best way to fundraise.
Here’s the proof. GivingUSA’s annual giving report shows that 72%-75% of money fundraised in the US is raised from individuals.
But even within that number, you could raise money from individuals with direct mail, online giving, monthly giving or major gifts.
Heck, you could even do a bake sale and call that money raised from individuals.
So What is the most effective way to raise money from individuals?
Face to face major gift fundraising.
According to Kim Klein, author and editor of over 19 books on fundraising, major gift fundraising has about a 50% chance of success, compared to every other way of raising money from individuals.
Of course, this is the thing that people are most scared to do.
If the idea of standing in front of someone and asking for money makes you want to hide your head in the sofa cushions, you’re not alone.
I still have a hard time asking in person, myself.
But luckily this year I’ve managed to get Amy Eisenstein to come and present for us and help us all get over our fears of starting our major gifts program and asking in person for major gifts.
I’ve admired Amy for years and I’m so pleased to welcome her to do a webinar for the Wild Woman Fundraising community for the first time. She has written three books about major gifts and can help us all learn how to fundraise better.
